Obituary of Daniel Burnie

 

BURNIE, Daniel – teacher (retired), PVNCCDSB


It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband and father, Daniel Burnie. Dan passed away on Friday May 4th at the age of 68. Dan taught with the PVNCCDSB for 33 years, most of it spent at St. Peter’s Elementary school in Peterborough, as well as Sacred Heart and Immaculate Conception. He will be remembered as a caring and compassionate teacher who connected with all of his students. He is predeceased by his parents Dorothea and Harold, and his brother Martin (Gisele). He is survived by his wife Mary-Anne (Heffernan) and children, Jordan (Jessie); Casey (Alex); Mollie, and family dog Mugsy; as well as six other siblings, Michael (Debbie); MaryAnne (Paul); Kathleen (Frank, deceased); Chris (Glenis); Tim (Kathleen), and John Paul (Jody). A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 10th at 11:00am at the Church of Our Lady of Assumption - Otonabee. A private interment will take place in Ennismore. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Peterborough or to the Outdoor Ramp Project at Case Manor, Bobcaygeon. The family wishes to extend its sincere gratitude to the caring staff at Case Manor for all they did for Dan during his time there.
