Alan Simmons of Peterborough, passed away with friends by his side at PRHC on Monday, August 6, 2018.
He was the loving son of the late Norman and Winnifred Simmons.
Born in England in 1948, raised in Montreal from the age of 6, Alan moved to Peterborough in 1969 to begin his first career in broadcasting. He went on to become a professional speaker, earning the National Speakers Association's designation of Certified Speaking Professional. He was later honoured as the second inductee into the Canadian Association of Speakers Hall of Fame.
Alan will be missed by treasured friend, Susan Simmons. He will be fondly remembered by extended family Erin Jackson, Jeremy Le Page, Lorna Watson, Stephanie and Lisa, along with a circle of dear friends who supported him throughout his difficult journey with MS.
Cremation took place August 8. A Family and Friends gathering will be held in September.
Alan inspired and mentored many with his giving nature and positive spirit.
"The virtue of the candle lies not in the wax that leaves its trace, but in its light." (Antoine de Saint-Exupery.)
We respectfully request donations in memory of Alan go to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Peterborough, or Lakefield Animal Shelter.
