Howard, Norman (Norm) James peacefully passed away on Saturday September 15th, 2018, with his wife by his side at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Norm was a gracious husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was beloved by his friends and family.
Norm was born September 13, 1925 in Hamilton, where he found his lifelong passion for boats, travel, golf and skiing. He married Marjorie and had four children who shared his love of life and sports, and passed his passions on to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Norm was a loving and strengthening father and grandfather to both his families. He was a member of the Peterborough Golf and Country Club for over two decades, and enjoyed his golf in many different countries.
Norm started his business career with Canadian General Electric in 1948 as an auditor and worked for many years in the Nuclear Division in Peterborough. He joined Foxboro Canada in Quebec where he enjoyed travelling to Mexico, Brazil and Argentina. He retired as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 1994, and continued as a consultant and director as long as his health allowed.
In his own words, Norm was “fortunate to have married two wonderful ladies: his first childhood girlfriend Marjorie for 45 years until her death, and then Anna for another 20 years… I wish you all a fond farewell and hope you have as satisfying a life as I have had.”
All his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews join to thank Norm for his love and wisdom, and to offer support to his wife Anna. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association, or the charity of your choice are greatly appreciated.
