THOMPSON, Margaret Cowie “Marg” (nee MacLauchlan, formerly Haynes) – Passed away peacefully, with family at her side, at Golden Plough Lodge, Cobourg, on Saturday, June 22, 2019. Margaret of Cobourg, who was raised in Bethel Grove, in her 90th year.
Beloved wife of the late Verne Thompson. Loving mother of Catherine Gowans (Jim) of Victoria, David Haynes (Tina) of Toronto and the late Andrew Haynes (surviving wife Marylou) of Port Hope. Special Mother to Beth Thompson (Harold), Gail Burns (Bruce) and Carla Johnston. Dear Grandmother of Nicholas, Jennifer, Christine, Joe, Verne, Elyse, Sabrina, Ian and Queenie. Great Grandmother of Caleb, Erika, Liam, Fiona, Noelle and Rhys. Sister of the late Jim MacLauchlan, Elizabeth Grimes, Andrew MacLauchlan and Henry MacLauchlan. Margaret will be remembered by many other relatives and friends, but Anne Taylor was a very special friend who provided care and support for mom in the years she lived at Golden Plough Lodge (GPL).
A retired Medical Secretary and farmer, Margaret will be remembered as an active duplicate bridge player, and reader. She was a devoted community volunteer at Northumberland Hills Hosp., Camp Quality and to Camborne Church. Margaret continued to advocate for her GPL Community, singing in the choir and participating in the Residents’ Council. She was a devoted mother who would act like Momma Bear when advocating for her children.
A service will be held at GPL, 983 Burnham Street, Cobourg, on Tuesday, July 9th, at 11 am. Cremation entrusted to Community Alternative Funeral Home. Donations to Camborne Church or Parkinson Canada would be appreciated. Condolences may be made at www.communityalternative.ca.
